Reimagining and Reshaping the Futures of Democratic Governance
Around the world, democracies are facing existential threats and a growing lack of trust that they are able to deliver meaningful outcomes for all their constituencies. And yet there are individuals in democratic institutions and social movements, who are committed to the potential for transformative democratic change. They require support to build common visions to transform democratic governance and catalyze change for justice, equity and care.
WHAT WE DO
New Visions prepares changemakers in democratic institutions and social movements to disrupt short-term thinking and power structures, developing visions for transformative, just possibilities and reshaping democratic governance.

Webinar: Progressive Movements in an Era of Collapse: Possible Pathways Forward
On September 15, New Visions marked International Democracy Day with a global conversation bringing together activists, thinkers, and community leaders.
The webinar, Progressive Movements in an Era of Collapse: Possible Pathways Forward, explored how democratic practices can be reimagined at a time of deep crisis. Speakers reflected on:
How to hold both realism and hope in our organizing.
What it means to build power with, rather than power over.
Lessons that movements can learn from each other across borders.
What democracy could feel like if it truly worked for everyone.
Opening the session, New Visions co-founder Nicole Rowsell invited participants to pause and reflect on democracy not as an abstract concept, but as a lived experience shaped by care, justice, and solidarity.
This wasn’t a one-way discussion - participants were encouraged to listen, share, and imagine together what defending and deepening democracy requires in today’s world.
